Fun & Fellowship
Annual Meriden Rotary Ski Trip
Each January a brave group of rotarians and their families travel to Vermont for a unique skiing experience. The fellowship and camaraderie shared throughout this weekend are unmatched in many places. The annual midnight sled trip down the mountain has been fodder for many stories in the Meriden Rotary Club.
Annual Meriden Rotary Picnic
Hosted at the venue of the current president's choice, the Annual Rotary Picnic is fun for all rotarians and their families. Although so much time and energy is given by rotarians for the good of their communities, it is important to the success of the club that members enjoy each other's company as well. Events like the picnic help to form strong relationships between rotarians.
Annual Meriden Rotary Holiday Party
Hosted by a Meriden Rotarian, the holiday party has proved to be one not to miss. As with the picnic, and Rotary events in general, the holiday party is an event to be enjoyed by members and their families.
Annual Rotary/Kiwanis Luncheon
In the joining of 2 of Meriden's most dedicated service organizations, the Rotary/Kiwanis Luncheon was started in 2008. Each year one club serves the other lunch, with the roles reversing the next. As the clubs try to "out-do" each other, the menu continues to become more elaborate.
Annual Installation Dinner
As one president's year winds down, another's is started. The installation dinner is a celebration of the club's accomplishments over the past year, as well an outline for the next year's goals. Awards are presented for outstanding rotarians, perfect attendance, and Paul Harris Fellows.
2 Minutes About Me
In an effort to get to know each other just a little bit better, the weekly meeting includes "Two Minutes About Me". A new rotarian each week is asked to speak about themselves for a couple minutes, sharing some information that most people may not know about them.
Tacky Tie Tuesday
Once each Rotary year, the Meriden Rotary Club has a tacky tie contest at a weekly meeting. This event coincides with the annual visit from the current district 7980 governor. The governor then gets to choose the winner of the contest who then receives the tacky trophy for the year.
